Who’s New in Madison (WNIM) has selected Open Doors for Refugees as its 2022-2023 service partner. One of Madison’s oldest and most active social clubs, Who’s New is a women’s group with 600 members who participate in 65 different activity groups, from book clubs to kayaking. Every year the Who’s New board selects a non-profit organization to support through fundraising and volunteering.
September Events Kick Off Partnership
The women of WNIM are hard at work coordinating fundraising events and other activities to support Madison-area refugees. Huda Alalawi and Madeline Uraneck were invited to speak about Open Doors for Refugees at a WNIM member luncheon on September 3.
On September 20, WNIM hosted a Drag Queen Bingo fundraiser at the Delta Beer Lab. Supporters filled the tap room while the fabulous Kendra Banx$ called the numbers. Delta Beer Lab selected Open Doors as their monthly nonprofit partner throughout the month of September, ultimately donating a total of $4,576.
Just two days later, on September 22, WNIM hosted a “Name that Tune” trivia fundraiser at Ten Pin Alley in Fitchburg. The generosity of Who’s New members and guests raised $2,217 for Open Doors.
