Open Doors for Refugees is happy to announce that we have hired our first Executive Director. This is a major step in the growth of this all-volunteer organization.

Cecilia is a bilingual immigrant from Argentina. She has worked in the Madison community since 2003. Cecilia has more than 20 years of experience providing services and resources to the immigrant community, including victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

She formerly served as the executive director of UNIDOS Against Domestic Violence as well as several different boards of directors for an assortment of non-profit organizations aimed at serving immigrants and underrepresented populations. For the past decade, she has operated as the Chief Operating Officer for MMG Law LLC, an immigration law office. Throughout her career, she has received awards and recognition for her dedication and advocacy work.

Beyond her role in the community, Cecilia is also a mother of two children and two rescue dogs and enjoys knitting, baking, and traveling with her husband.

“I am very impressed with all the work this organization and its volunteers do every day to welcome refugees into the Madison area. I am thankful and excited for the opportunity to help Open Doors for Refugees grow alongside the growing needs of our community.”

With her new role at Open Doors for Refugees, Cecilia will provide the leadership and coordination needed to assure that this organization continues to carry out its mission in Madison.

We salute the 2,000-plus individuals who have volunteered or supported ODFR these past years as newcomers from a growing number of countries have settled in Madison. ODFR will continue to seek volunteer talents and with Cecilia, will strengthen existing projects and grow into new ones.

Please help us welcome Cecilia as Open Doors takes this major step into the future of refugee resettlement.
