How You Can Help Refugees in the Madison Area
Open Doors for Refugees is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to help refugees make a home in the Madison area.
With the support of the Madison community, Open Doors collects furnishings and sets up apartments, and provides translation, transportation, ESL, childcare, and employment services for arriving refugees. Additionally, each year the Events Team hosts or co-hosts four major annual events and a handful of one-off events, either for the refugee community or the community at large.

Reflections of an Afghan Evacuee

Open Doors for Refugees and the Catholic Multicultural Center invite you to attend “A Reading with Najib Azad: Reflections of an Afghan Evacuee”. The event will take place from 7:00-8:30 pm on August 15 at the CMC (1862 Beld St, Madison, WI 53713, USA). Doors open at 6:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
Afghan author, professor, and political figure Najib Azad will talk about his book “Beyond Evacuation: from the Himalayas to the Statue of Liberty”. Najib was the press secretary to the former Afghan president. He has a captivating and heart-wrenching story to tell about his own family’s evacuation story, in addition to providing commentary on the political situation in Afghanistan and on the beautiful sides of Afghanistan we rarely hear about.
